The partnership aims to promote the new generation of Romanian filmmakers. Father Moves Mountains/Tatăl mută munţii which won Transilvania Pitch Stop Development Award is the story of a powerful man who is looking for his son lost in the mountains and who finally discovers himself. „It’s a story about how we cannot accept reality and about the fine line between lucidity and craziness”, the director told FNE. This film is based on a true story and it doesn’t have a producer yet.
Daniel Sandu was also selected in Pardi di Domani section of the festival with his short film Horsepower/Cai-putere, produced by Velvet Moraru through ICONProduction.
Mariţa, the recipient of Transilvania Pitch Stop Post-Production Award, will be produced by Ada Solomon through HiFilm Productions. The first feature of Cristi Iftime is a „road movie about family relationship”, the director told FNE.
Its main character, Costi (30) refuses to visit his girlfriend’s family for Christmas. Instead he is spending time with his own family. Cristi Iftime was nominated for the Golden Bear at the Berlinale (with July 15/15 iulie, in 2011) and in the Cinéfondation section of Cannes Film Festival (with The Camp in Răzoare/Tabăra din răzoare, in 2012).
HiFilm Productions is also producing the debut feature of Daniel Sandu, One Step Behind the Seraphim/Un pas în urma serafimilor, a glimpse into the life of teenagers from seminaries, which is also in development and for which the producer is still looking for partners in order to close its funding. The film is coproduced so far with Hungary’s Cor Leonis.
