Barna is producing the documentaries through Paradox Film. I Hit, Therefore I Am/Lovesc, deci exist, a 90 minute documentary investigating violence in the Romanian society through 25 interviews and re-enactments, will be shot over approximately 30 days from April to June 2015 in Bucharest and its surroundings.

Bogdan Ficeac wrote the script based on its own book Why People Kill Themselves/De ce se ucid oamenii (2011). Some 30% of the budget of approximately 200,000 EUR is covered by the production grant of 48,000 EUR/212,000 RON received from the Romanian CNC in April 2014, Barna told FNE. The film is scheduled to be finished at the end of 2015, with the premiere set for spring 2016.

His second documentary The Witch Nuns/Călugăriţele vrăjitoare focuses on the case of two nuns accused of witchcraft and hanged in 1714 by Prince Ştefan Cantacuzino who thus tried to cover the fact that his wife fell into a trance at the very moment when his predecessor, Constantin Brâncoveanu, was hanged because of him in Constantinople.

The script of this 90 minute documentary is written by Doina Ruşti. Shooting is scheduled for summer 2015. Robert Cilincă and Sorin Gociu are the DoP’s. The film’s budget is 200,000 EUR with 53,300 EUR/235,000 RON secured by the production grant from CNC in October 2014. The film will be finished in 2016. For both projects discussions with Romanian television stations are underway.
