The film is a rural thriller involving a young man who wants to sell the land inherited from his grandfather. The main characters are played by Dragoş Bucur, Vlad Ivanov and Gheorghe Visu. Andrei Butică (Child's Pose, Parada Film) is the DoP.
Shooting takes place in Buzău county and around Bucharest, and will last for one month. The film is produced by Marcela Ursu through 42 Km Film, Ellie Meirovitz through EZ Films and Stephan Komandarev through Argo Film. The Romanian National Film Center (CNC), the French CNC, the Bulgarian National Film Center, Canal +, Eurimages and the GAN Foundation are supporting the film.
Dogs was selected for the Angers Workshops, Torino Film Lab/ Script & Pitch, Les Arcs and L’Atelier du Cinefondation in Cannes. It received the ARTE Award at Cinelink.The premiere is set for 2016.
Mirică studied scriptwriting at Westminster University in London and returned to Romania in 2008. He directed several short films including the awarded Bora Bora and he also wrote and co-directed the TV series Shadows/Umbrefor HBO Romania.
