This documentary, with both a 75 minute and a 52 minute version, investigates the situation of Romanian women and especially pregnant women, while focusing on the social discrimination perceived on all the levels, despite education. More than 40 pregnant women from villages, small towns and big cities from Romania and Spain were interviewed throughout 2015. Jesús del Cerro, Camelia Popa, Crăița Nanu and Costel Zaharia wrote the script. Adrian Silișteanu (Best Intentions, 4Proof Film) is the DoP.
Pregnant, In Romania is produced and financed by del Cerro's Studio Indie Productions, a production company launched in February 2015 by the Spanish director and producer together with Rodrigo Ruiz-Tarazona, the owner and CEO of Cinelab Romania. The budget is 200,000 EUR, representatives of Studio Indie Productions told FNE.
