CLUJ-NAPOCA: Iulia Rugină’s third feature film Breaking News will screen out of the competition in the Romanian Days section of the 16th Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF) from 8 to 10 June 2017. The festival will run this year from 2 to 11 June.

The film is a psychological drama about a TV journalist who, after indirectly causing the death of his DoP during a live report, has to make an in-memoriam piece about him. As he tries to redeem himself for the loss he caused, he slowly starts taking the dead man's place.

Vivi Drăgan Vasile, one of the most acclaimed Romanian DoPs, is lensing. The film stars the popular actor Andi Vasluianu and the newcomer Voica Oltean.

The film was produced by Oana Giurgiu, Tudor Giurgiu and Bogdan Crăciun through Hai–Hui Entertainment. It was supported by the Romanian Film Centre. The project was selected for CineLink Work-in-Progress, that took place during the 22nd Sarajevo Film Festival (12-20 August 2016).

Iulia Rugină is the winner of Best Romanian Short Film Award in the Romanian Days section of Transilvania International Film Festival for Dying from a Wound of Love / Să mori de dragoste rănită (2014). Her previous feature films are Love Building, a domestic box office hit in 2013 and Another Love Building / Alt love building (2014), both produced by Actoriedefilm.ro.
