GRANTS: Romania Announces Record Number of Grants

BUCHAREST: The Romanian Film Center (CNC) distributed almost 10.7 m EUR / 50 m RON as production and development grants on 11 May 2018. Seventeen feature films and ten debut features received production support.

This is a record number, but it counts also for a missing session in 2017, as the CNC is supposed to organise two funding sessions per year. The projects were submitted at the end of 2017.

Among the projects receving production grants are new films by Radu Jude and Bogdan Mirică. The CNC also allotted funding to several minority coproductions including the new projects by Tomasz Wasilewski, Ivan Ostrochovski and Stefan Orlandic Stojanovski.

For the first time the CNC is supporting the production of four thematic feature films on the occasion of the centennial of the modern state.

Twenty short films, 15 documentaries and seven animated films received production grants. The Romanian Film Center also gave development funding for feature films, documentaries and animated films.
