The Romanian coproducers are Avanpost (Vlad Rădulescu), Petra Films (Andreea Cristina Borțun) and Forest Film (Adrian Pădurețu). Alexandra Tînjală and Adriana Bumbeș are associate producers.

So far, the project has been backed by the Romanian Film Centre, CNC Aide aux Cinemas du Monde and PACA Region SUD (France), as well as the Slovenian Film Centre, MEDIA Creative Europe and Eurimages. The budget is approximately 1.3 m EUR.

“We have been developing the project in the past five years. It is a very ambitious debut feature and it brings a lot to the table in terms of necessity, both for production as well as for relevance in terms of subject. We still have a few seats available at the financiers table, as it happens with art projects, but we've already received enough support to start production and shooting of the winter season for the film”, producer Gabi Suciu told FNE.

Mihaela Subţirică and Ştefan Costea play the main characters, and the cast includes Vasile Pavel Digudai, Eliza Bercu, Nicu Mihoc and Iulian Postelnicu.

The shooting started on 16 February 2023 and is planned for 47 days throughout 2023. Romanian cinematographer Laurențiu Răducanu is shooting the film in several Romanian villages in the Călărași and Teleorman counties, as well as for a couple of days in Marseille, France.

Blue Banks is set to be finished in 2024 and it will be released in Romania by Follow Art Distribution. Negotiations for a sales agent are underway.
