By Iulia Blaga

William Tell: The Legend the second movie produced by Alison Semenza and Todd Moyer's Flagship Films will start shooting September 1 in Romania.

Flagship Films previously announced production of Weapon, by Brian Mulcahy, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Vinnie Jones.

William Tell: The Legend is co-produced by the German company Barefoot and Til Schweiger, and by Romania's Castel Film Studios (www.castelfilm.ro) and Vlad Paunescu.

Directed by Nick Hurran, the film will star Jim Caviezel and Til Schweiger.

The film recounts the conflict between William Tell (Jim Caviezel) and the Habsburg monarch Hermann Gessler (Til Schweiger). The uprising which came after Tell's defiant stand led to the formation of Switzerland.

The script was written by Scott Reynolds and Nick Hurran.

Bogdan Moncea, marketing director for Castel Film Studios, told FNE that the budget is not yet settled, nor the locations chosen. The team is expected in Romania in a few weeks. It is strongly possible that the shooting will take place primarily in the Castel Film studios. The released date is still unknown.
