The film was sold so far in Australia and New Zealand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg, France and Switzerland, Turkey, Greece, Israel, Slovenia, the Baltic countries, Poland, Italy etc.

The Teacher is a Slovak/Czech coproduction and the director’s first Slovak majority film. It was produced by PubRes in coproduction with Offside Men, RTVS and the Czech Television. Financial support was also received from the Slovak Audiovisual Fund, the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic and the State Cinematography Fund.

The film was released by Forum Film s.r.o. in 72 Slovak cinemas on 21 July 2016 and sold 15,489 tickets in the first weekend and approximately 60,000 to date.

The Teacher is set in Czechoslovakia in the 80s, when a new corrupted teacher comes to a school in the suburbs and turns the life of the students and the parents upside down. Petr Jarchovský wrote the script and popular Slovak actors Zuzana Mauréry, Peter Bebjak, Attila Mokos, Csongor Kassai or Zuzana Konečná play the main roles.
