BERLIN: The 66th Berlin International Film Festival held from 11-21 February 2016 awarded its top prize the Golden Bear for Best film to Italian director Gianfranco Rosi’s Fire at Sea.
BERLIN: FilmFestival Cottbus and Connecting Cottbus handed out two prizes during its annual Berlinale Brunch held at the Representation Building of the Federal State of Brandenburg in Berlin. Young film and theatre producer Marija Dimitrova from Macedonia was awarded a Gesellschaft zur Wahrnehmung von Film- und Fernsehrechten (GWFF) grant endowed with 4,500 EUR euro to study abroad.

TALLINN: The 19th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival awarded its top prize to the South Korean film Sado by director Lee Joon-ik with the director and producer picking up an award of 10 000 EUR.
TALLINN: The Estonian regional Tartu Film Fund in the city of Tartu has announced that it will increase the amount of funding available in the next five years to 450,000 EUR from its present level of 150, 000 EUR.
STRASBOURG: The The French/Turkish/German coproduction Mustang directed by Deniz Gamze Ergüven has been awarded the European Parliament's LUX Prize 2015 .
VIENNA: Participants at the Film New Europe Association’s Focus on Austrian CEE Coproduction will launch a new network of Austrian and Central and Eastern European film funds and producers to build on the success of the event hosted at the Austrian Film Institute on 9 October in Vienna.
VENICE: New York-based musician and performance artist Laurie Anderson’s Heart of a Dog screens in competition in Venice as her first feature-length film since the documentary Home of the Brave 30 years ago.
VENICE: We have seen the future and it is white and chic but not much fun. That seems to be the message in director Drake Doremus’s visually stunning but rather simplistic new film Equals that screened in competition at the Venice Film Festival.
