PRAGUE: The Czech, Slovak, Polish, Israeli coproduction In the Shadow directed by David Ondricek dominated the 20th anniversary edition of the Czech Lions at Prague’s Lucerna Hall on 2 March 2013.

BERLIN: The Lithuanian film Vanishing Waves directed by Kristian Buozyte picked up more international sales during the EFM in Berlin and looks set to become one of the most successful Lithuanian films internationally in the post-Soviet period.

BERLIN: Child’s Pose directed by Romanian director Calin Peter Netzer swept to victory taking home the 63rd Berlinale’s top prize and proving that the Romanian “new wave” is still bringing new talent to European shores. The film also won the prestigious FIPRESCI international critics award.

BIARRITZ: The 26th edition FIPA – the International Festival of Audiovisual Programmes (22-27 January 2012) was its first under the new leadership team of President Didier Decoin and former ARTE Francois Sauvagnargues as General Delegate.  Sauvagnargues was the former director of fiction at ARTE and brings a television insider’s view to the event.

MOSCOW: The fourth annual CentEast Moscow Market (www.centeast.eu) has found a slot in the new Red Square Screenings, (15-19 October 2012) a new initiative backed by the Russian Cinema Fund.

MOSCOW:  The Red Square Screenings (15-19 October 2012) brought many central European producers to Moscow for the first time as the event teams up with CentEast Moscow (www.centeast.eu).
