VILNIUS: The Danish psychological drama Winter Brothers directed by Hlynur Pálmason received the main prize in the newly established European Debut competition of the 23rd edition of the Vilnius Film Festival Kino Pavasaris, held from 15 to 29 March 2018.

VILNIUS: Lithuanian writer/director Marat Sargsyan is currently shooting his debut feature The Flood Won‘t Come / Tvano nebus. The project is supported by the Lithuanian Film Centre.

VILNIUS: One of the most famous Lithuanian film directors Algimantas Puipa is currently shooting his new drama, Bumblebee Honey / Kamanių medus.

VILNIUS: Norwegian production company Zwart Arbeid is currently shooting the 10-episode TV series The Oil Fund / Oljefonde in the capital city of Lithuania. This comedy drama following the inner circles of Norway’s oil fund is the first TV project produced by Harald Zwart, known for directing The Pink Panther 2 (2009) and The Karate Kid (2010).

VILNIUS: The Lithuanian Film Centre distributed 815,763 EUR to five feature film productions.

VILNIUS: Lithuanian film industry had a good year in 2017, with films made with the support of the Lithuanian Film Centre and selected for major festivals – Cannes, Toronto, Locarno, Venice, Karlovy Vary, IDFA Amsterdam – and international productions flocking in after the launch of the incentives scheme in 2014. In 2017 Lithuania was also a guest country at the Minsk International Film Festival Listapad.

VILNIUS: The Lithuanian Film Centre distributed  2,094,460 EUR to 26 film projects, including 11 projects dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Lithuanian state, five minority coproductions and ten national films (feature films, documentaries and animated films).

VILNIUS: The Lithuanian short The Last Day / Paskutinė diena (2017) by Klaudija Matvejevaitė won the two best film prizes at the Scanorama film festival. Five Lithuanian shorts, three Estonian shorts and two Latvian shorts competed in the New Baltic Cinema competition of the European Film Forum Scanorama, which opened on 9 November 2017.

VILNIUS: The German production company Ufa Fiction (producers Benjamin Benedict, Nico Hofmann and Martin Bromber) and local service producer Ramūnas Škikas (production company Ahil) are shooting the TV drama Kruso in Lithuania for public broadcasters MDR and ARD Degeto with backing from MDM Mitteldeutsche Medien-Förderung and the Lithuanian Film Centre.

VILNIUS: Lithuanian director Ignas Jonynas is currently shooting his new feature film Invisible / Nematoma. The shooting of this Lithuanian/Ukrainian/Latvian coproduction started on 4 September 2017 and is scheduled to wrap on 20 October 2017. The film is shot in both Lithuania and the Ukraine.
