LJUBLJANA: Luka Marčetič has finished shooting At Hostar 2 / Pr’Hostar 2 ‰, the Slovenian domestic hit that still holds the record for the most admissions since 1991. The shooting, which took place in Bled, had started on 8 October and finished on 7 November 2021.

PORTOROŽ: Tijana Zinajić’s Bitch, a Derogatory Term for a Woman won the Vesna Award for best feature film along with another six Vesna awards at the 24th Festival of Slovenian Film, which ran in Portorož from 12 to 18 October 2021. Marija Zidar’s Reconciliation won the Vesna Award for best documentary and best editing, as well as the Slovenian Federation of film critics (FIPRESCI) award.

LJUBLJANA: Nataša Bučar, the director of the Slovenian Film Centre, presented a study on the accessibility and competitiveness of European audio-visual works from small language environments at the two-day international expert conference "How to increase the accessibility and competitiveness of European audiovisual and media content", held in Ljubljana 12 – 13 October 2021, within the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

PORTOROŽ: Miroslav Mandić’s sixth feature film Sanremo will be screened in the competition of the 24th Festival of Slovenian Film in Portorož (12 - 17 October 2021). This Slovenian/Italian coproduction is a drama about aging and losing distant and not so distant memories.

PORTOROŽ: Blaž Završnik's third feature film Ameba will be screened in the competition of the 24th Festival of Slovenian Film in Portorož (12 - 17 October 2021). The film questions the present society using a dystopian formula.

PORTOROŽ: Nika Autor's long documentary Newsreel 80 – Metka, Meki / Filmski obzornik 80 – Metka, Meki will be screened in the competition of the 24th Festival of Slovenian Film in Portorož (12 - 17 October 2021). Through nine culinary chapters the film portraits Metka, who left for Germany as a temporary worker in 1968.

PORTOROŽ: Igor Šterk's first long documentary No Man Is an Island / Septembrska klasa will be screened in the competition of the 24th Festival of Slovenian Film in Portorož (12 - 17 October 2021). The film is a coproduction between Slovenia, Serbia and Croatia.

PORTOROŽ: Tijana Zinajić's debut feature Bitch, a Derogatory Term for a Woman / Prasica, slabšalni izraz za žensko will be screened in the competition of the 24th Festival of Slovenian Film in Portorož (12 - 17 October 2021). The screenplay for this subversive romantic comedy in Slovenian street language was written by the acclaimed young writer Iza Strehar.

PORTOROŽ: Jurij Gruden's Sparks in Time – Worldwide Computer Adventure / Iskre v času – Svetovni računalniški podvig will be screened in the competition of the 24th Festival of Slovenian Film in Portorož (12 - 17 October 2021). This long documentary is based on the book The Cold War for Information Technology: The Inside Story by Janez Škrubej.

PORTOROŽ: Vinko Möderndorfer’s fourth feature film Deadlock / Zastoj will be screened in the competition of the 24th Festival of Slovenian Film in Portorož (12 - 17 October 2021). The story focuses on a tragic event which brings together two married couples from different social backgrounds. The main roles are played by Mirjam Korbar, Peter Musevski, Uroš Fürst and Barbara Cerar.
