VALLETTA: The Arts Council Malta has distributed 900,000 EUR for the production of three long films within the new Screen Support Scheme.
Now in its second edition, WINECAST returns as Georgia’s only international festival where cinema and wine meet in unforgettable places. From 20–24 August 2025, the festival unfolds across two iconic venues: the Tbilisi Wine Museum and the historic Château Mukhrani, bringing together filmmakers, producers, writers, and wine lovers from around the world and offering a cinematic and sensory journey like no other.
After its successful 2024 debut at the Radisson Collection Tsinandali, where it welcomed nearly 1,000 guests and spotlighted the USA in partnership with the American Film Showcase, the U.S. Embassy in Georgia, and the USDA, WINECAST now turns its focus to Europe. The 2025 The program includes bold new voices in European cinema, international competition films, regionally rooted gems, and a curated selection of Georgian and international wines. Expect screenings, tastings, workshops, industry talks, and long, slow evenings filled with music and conversation.
Highlights include:
- Over 30 fiction and documentary screenings
- 30 Georgian wineries and 10 international producers
- Curated film & wine pairings
- Daily masterclasses, workshops, live music, and cultural evenings
The first three days (Aug 20–22) will be hosted in the heart of Tbilisi, while the final two (Aug 23–24) take place at Château Mukhrani, blending cinematic storytelling with the beauty and depth of Georgian winemaking.
More than just a festival, WINECAST is a vibrant gathering of filmmakers, producers, winegrowers, critics, and cultural leaders. It’s a space where stories unfold on screen, and every sip deepens the experience.

PRODUCTION: Cypriot Director Christos Georgiou in Postproduction with Comedy Worthy
Cyprus 20-07-2025NICOSIA: Cypriot director/writer Christos Georgiou is currently in postproduction with his feature film Worthy / Axios, a Cypriot/Greek comedy supported by the Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Culture.
NICOSIA: The award-winning Cypriot director/writer/producer Tonia Mishiali is currently in production with her anticipated sophomore feature The Lion at My Back (former Nala & Stella). This Cypriot/Luxembourgish/Greek coproduction is a poignant, emotionally charged drama, exploring themes of resilience, survival, and the transformative bond between two marginalised women.
VALLETTA: Mark Holland’s new interactive reality series House of Streams, produced by the Maltese Stream House Media Productions (SHriMP) and supported by the Malta Film Commission, will premiere exclusively on Netflix in the UK and Ireland on 18 June 2025. As a first of its kind, the show blends online live streaming content production with unscripted TV and an interactive audience ‘Chat’.
Smashing Hit for The Southern Chronicles at Lithuanian National Awards Silver Crane 2025
Lithuania 15-06-2025VILNIUS: Ignas Miškinis’s Lithuanian/Estonian feature film The Southern Chronicles / Pietinia Kronikas won 12 awards out of 14 nominations, including Best Feature Film, Best Director, Best Script and Best Leading Actor, at the 16th National Film Awards Silver Crane held in Vilnius.
