BRATISLAVA: Third season of Tom Clancy´s Jack Ryan will be partially shot in Slovakia in August 2021. This political thriller series is produced by Amazon Studios, Paramount Television and Skydance Television.

BRATISLAVA: YR2021 kicked off with a live panel discussion at Kino Lumière Bratislava on 29 June 2021. It was the first of a year-long series of events that will gradually take place in the capitals of the Visegrad Four: Bratislava, Warsaw, Prague and Budapest.

FNE has spoken to Michal Drobný, the co-owner of CINEMAX, to find out how the largest network of cinemas in Slovakia is recovering from the pandemic.

BRATISLAVA: The long animated film version of The Websters 3 / Websterovci 3 series by Katarína Kerekesová continues production, which started in March 2020. The Slovak/Czech coproduction is part of The Websters brand, which has already released 13 episodes and three books of stories.

KOŠICE: Pleasure by Ninja Thybergwon, a coproduction between Sweden, the Netherlands and France, won the Blue Angel, the main prize in the International Competition of the 28th Art Film Fest Košice, which took place 23 – 27 June 2021.

FNE correspondent Zuzana Vojtekova spoke to Slovak producer Marián Urban, head of ALEF FILM & MEDIA and the Slovak Audiovisual Producers' Association (SAPA), about what challenges he faced as a producer during the pandemic and how the film industry in Slovakia is recovering.

KOŠICE: Nine films will compete for the main prize, the Blue Angel, in the International competition of the 28th Art Film Fest Košice, which takes place 23 – 27 June 2021. Art Film Fest is the first major film event to take place physically in Slovakia after the second wave of the pandemic.

BRATISLAVA: The romantic comedy Just a Lot of Love / Hlavne veľa lásky by Slovak director Branislav Mišík, an adaptation of another bestseller by Evita Twardzik Urbaníková, is currently in production. NUNEZ NFE started shooting the film just a few days after finishing shooting another Urbaníková‘s adaptation, Till the Summer Comes / V lete ti poviem ako sa mám.

BRATISLAVA: The Slovak/Czech coproduction General / Generál by Jiří Chlumský, which began production in 2018, is still shooting. The historical drama following the life of Milan Rastislav Štefánik, a general and important politician of the early 20th century, changed the director twice. It was originally directed by Mariana Čengel Solčanská, followed by Jérôme Cornuau, and finally Jiří Chlumský.

BRATISLAVA: Cinemas in Slovak regions with a lower COVID-19 rate are allowed to reopen under specific conditions on 17 May 2021, but it is expected that cinema operators will open one or two weeks after that date
