BUDAPEST: While Orosz Dénes’ 2024 romantic musical comedy How Could I Live Without You?  / Hogyan tudnék élni nélküled? (produced by IKO Műsorgyártó Kft) has exceeded 1 m admissions and 5 m EUR gross (while still in Hungarian cinemas), the shooting for a sequel is currently underway. Directed by Dyga Zsombor, How could I live without you? 2 is backed by the National Film Institute – Hungary (NFI).

BUDAPEST: The second season of the thriller series The Day of the Jackal is confirmed for filming in Budapest, showing that the 30% local cash rebate scheme and the high skill set of service production in Hungary remain attractive for international filming. Other locations include Croatia and London.

BUDAPEST: Netflix has officially confirmed that the production of the second season of the 3 Body Problem sci-fi series is currently filming in Budapest with Pioneer Stillking providing services and benefiting from the local 30% cash rebate system. The third season will also be shot in Hungary.

BUDAPEST: Gábor Herendi is currently in postproduction with the romantic comedy Passionate Women / Szenvedélyesnők, an adaptation of one of the most successful Czech films, Women in Temptation / Ženy v pokušení (2010) directed by Jirí Vejdelek and produced by Infinity Prague.

BUDAPEST: The National Film Institute – Hungary (NFI) will soon open the 8th Budapest Classic Film Marathon (16 - 21 September 2025), an international festival of restored Hungarian and foreign classic films. The lineup includes fiction films, animated films and documentaries about cinema.

BUDAPEST: The Hungarian director Lili Horvát will start shooting My Notes on Mars / Jegyzeteim a Marsról this summer in Budapest and Vienna. The Hungarian/Austrian/French/Bosnian coproduction stars Mackenzie Davis and Rupert Friend.

BUDAPEST: The third part of the Dune series, based on Frank Herbert’s novels and led by Canadian director Denis Villeneuve, started shooting in Hungary in the first half of July 2025, earlier than planned. The production is taking place at NFI Studios in Fót (near Budapest), with local services provided by Pioneer Stillking.

BUDAPEST: Dune: Part Three, the series 12/12/12  and Ponies, as well as the sci-fi comedy Alpha Gang are among the international productions currently shooting in Hungary and benefiting from the country’s 30% cash rebate system.

BUDAPEST: Viktor Oszkár Nagy’s anti-James Bond spy comedy Espionage for Beginners / Kémfeladatok kezdőknek has been acquired by U.S. Moonstone Entertainment. The film is currently in postproduction.

BUDAPEST: The National Film Institute – Hungary (NFI) has distributed 2.3 m EUR in production grants to five TV projects including fiction films, one documentary and documentary series.
