BUCHAREST: Acclaimed Romanian writer/director Corneliu Porumboiu is currently shooting Gomera in Romania and Spain. This Romanian/French/German coproduction stars Vlad Ivanov and has already been acquired by MK2 Films.

BUCHAREST: Daniel Sandu’s debut feature One Step Behind the Seraphim leads the 12th Gopo awards nominations with 15 nods including for best film and best director. The awards will be announced on 27 March 2018.

BUCHAREST: Mona Nicoară and Dana Bunescu are in the final stages of postproduction with The Distance Between Me and Me, a documentary about the Romanian poet Nina Cassian (1924-2014). The film, produced by Ada Solomon among others, is a Romanian/U.S. coproduction set for release in 2018.

BUCHAREST: Anthony C. Ferrante starts shooting his new horror Fells Point in Romania on 19 February 2018. The sequel to Ferrante’s TV movie hit Sharknado stars the same actors as the 2013 film: Ian Zering, Tara Reid, Casandra Scerbo and Vivica Fox. It is serviced by Castel Film Studios.

ZAGREB: The Croatian Audiovisual Centre distributed 272,300 EUR / 2,025,000 HRK to three minority coproductions directed by Peter Brosens & Jessica Woodworth, Metod Pevec and Ines Tanović.

BUCHAREST: Creative agency ROLLERCOASTER PR will launch as a distributor on the Romanian market on 24 August 2018 with the theatrical release of the domestic documentary Licu, a Romanian Story directed by Ana Dumitrescu.

ZAGREB: The Board of HAVC reappointed Hrvoje Hribar as Chief Executive for a second four-year term beginning in December 2014, but on 6 February 2017 Hribar handed in his resignation due to the negative audit conducted by the Croatian State Audit. In February 2017 Daniel Rafaelić was named acting director and in May 2017 the director of the Croatian Audiovisual Centre for a four year term.
