BUCHAREST: The second season of the most popular series produced by HBO Europe in Romania Shadows / Umbre will open simultaneously on 12 November 2017 in all 19 European countries where HBO operates. The Polish drama The Pack / Wataha directed by Kasia Adamik and Jan P. Matuszyński is also returning for a second season, launching day-and-date across HBO Europe on 15 October 2017.

BUCHAREST: Wide Management sold the psychological drama Pororoca by Romanian writer/director Constantin Popescu to China, Spain, ex-Yugoslavia, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and Paraguay, following its premiere in the main competition of the San Sebastian FF, which wrapped 30 September 2017. The film won the best actor prize for Bogdan Dumitrache.

BUCHAREST: Doina Gradea was confirmed by the Romanian Parliament as acting general manager of the Romanian public broadcaster (SRTV) after the rejection of the activity report on 2016 and thus the dissolution of the Council of Administration led by the former general manager Irina Radu.

BUCHAREST: Romanian writer/director/producer Tudor Giurgiu will start shooting his fourth feature film Above Man, the Woman Soars / Apropierea / Sin Aliento in Spain on 19 October 2017. This Romanian/Spanish/Czech coproduction is the first film shot by Giurgiu as a director abroad.

This month we speak with Piotr Olak, the CEO, director and programmer of Kino Luna from Warsaw, Poland. Luna means moon in Latin, but the true inspiration for the cinema’s name was the Russian outer-space programme, since this art house cinema is promoting culture since 1962.

BUCHAREST: Stere Gulea is in preparation with a sequel to Moromeții, 30 years after his first adaptation of the novel by Marin Preda in one of the most acclaimed Romanian movies of all times. Moromeții 2 is produced by Tudor Giurgiu and it will be domestically released by Transilvania Film on 9 November 2018.

BUCHAREST: HBO Romania is reconsidering its dubbing policy after more than 4,000 subscribers signed a petition asking the channel to stop dubbing films. The reaction came after HBO Romania broadcast a dubbed version of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
