GDYNIA: Bartosz Blaschke’s debut feature Sonata won the Perspektywa Award given annually to the best debut in Polish cinemas during a gala organised by the Polish Filmmakers Association on 28 March 2022. The film tells the moving story of the autistic musician Grzegorz Płonka.

GDAŃSK: Doppelgänger is currently shooting in Gdańsk with a star cast including Jakub Gierszał, Tomasz Schuchardt and Andrzej Seweryn. This is the second feature by Jan Holoubek after 25 Years of Innocence. The Case of Tomek Komenda (TVN), a sensational drama based on real events.

WARSAW: Leave No Traces by Jan P. Matuszyński received the most nominations, a total of 13, for the Polish Film Awards - The Eagles. The date of the award ceremony will be announced soon. Leave No Traces was Poland’s candidate for the 94th Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences award in the Best International Feature Film category.

WARSAW: The director of Polish box office hits Patryk Vega has revealed his secret project, Autobiography (working title), a very personal film intended to be his last project in Polish, as he plans to move to English-language projects.

WARSAW: Netflix is ready to start production on the third season of the hit show The Witcher, based on the books by Andrzej Sapkowski and heavily inspired by an internationally acclaimed computer game produced by the Polish company CD PROJEKT.

WARSAW: The Polish Filmmakers Association offers help in finding employment in the productions of its Munk Studio to representatives of the film industry among the refugees from the Ukraine.

WARSAW: Four new documentaries produced by SFP Munk Studio as part of the First Documentary programme are available on VOD on DAfilms, a curated platform specialising in original documentary cinema.

WARSAW: The short documentary Backstage by Ada Smyk, produced as part of the SFP First Documentary programme, has been selected for the competition of one of the most important and popular independent cinema festivals, SXSW in Austin. It will be the international premiere of the film.

WARSAW: Directors and producers can apply to the 30 minutes, First Documentary and Young Animation leading film project programmes offered by Munk Studio, up until 28 February 2022.

WARSAW: ZAPA (Polish Union of Audiovisual Authors and Producers), managed by the Polish Filmmakers Association, secured a record amount of 36 m EUR /166 m PLN of the total royalties paid to authors and producers in 2021.
