IDF spoke with Polish director Jacob Dammas and German producer/director Helge Renner about the six year long process of creating their documentary Polish Illusions.

The deadline for the Coproducing Documentaries in Europe seminar, taking place in Slovakia, has been extended until 31 August 2012.

The 10th Worldfilm (www.worldfilm.ee) festival to be held 18 – 24 March 2013 in Tartu, Estonia, has opened its call for submissions.

The deadline for film submissions is 15 October. There is no entry fee.

BRATISLAVA: The second session of the postproduction workshop DOK.Incubator (docincubator.net) is accepting observer and consultation applications from Slovak, Czech and Polish film professionals and Slovak film students for the Final Cut workshop, to be held in Bratislava 14-20 September 2012.

TALLINN: Estonia and Russia are coproducing a Russian-language
documentary The New Silk Way directed by Evdokiya Moskvina.

PRAGUE: Director Dora Kapralova is in production with Soilmania, a feature length Czech-German coproduction filmed in Czech, German, and English.

PRAGUE: Czech company Fresh Films is planning an April 2013 premiere for Rozalie Kohoutova's Roma-themed documentary Kesay Tchave.

The Bulgarian documentary Steam and Faith is participating in the 2012 Ex-Oriente Workshop as it prepares for a March 2013 completion date.

Bulgarian production company tanaki films plans a January 2014 premiere for the documentary A Classroom Story from director David Djambazov.

{mosimage}PRAGUE: Thirteen films representing twelve countries will participate in the first session of the Ex-Oriente documentary workshop, beginning on 18 June 2012.

{mosimage}PRAGUE: Ten Czech documentary films have been selected to compete for the 2012 Pavel Koutecky Award, named for the respected Czech documentary filmmaker who died in 2006 while working on his film about the iconic Czech leader Vaclav Havel.

The only documentary in this year's selection, Sofia's Last Ambulance by Bulgarian filmmaker Ilian Metev will be presented in the Critics' Week competition in Cannes (May 17 - 25). Co-produced by Bulgaria, Germany and Croatia, the film attended the 2010 East European Forum and the 2011 Doc Launch presentation.

An Interview with Czech filmmaker Richard Komárek about the collapsing Twin Towers, lawsuits, disco lounges and patriot trucks in his documentary project Play 9/11.

Richard Komárek belongs among emerging Czech directors who are experienced in local models of Czech TV production formats. With Play 9/11, an ambitious documentary investigation of the post-9/11 world, he attended the 2012 East European Forum to look for fresh inspiration and potential co-production partners.

PLZEN: Some of the Czech Republic's leading filmmakers will be represented in the more than 20 films screening in the Finale Plzen documentary competition.
