Dreaming of the West, Boryana is determined not to have a child in communist Bulgaria. Nonetheless, her daughter Viktoria enters the world in 1979, curiously missing a belly button, and is declared the country’s Baby of the Decade. Pampered by her mother state until the age of nine, Viktoria’s decade of notoriety comes crashing down with the rest of European communism. But can political collapse and the hardship of new times finally bring Viktoria and her reluctant mother closer together?
Told in three parts and spanning several decades, Viktoria is both intimate and epic, unfolding a mother-daughter story while also working as a wry, philosophical fable with broad historical scope. (...)

Jolly Bulgarian and a shy Finn are "accidentally" struck by Cupid's arrow, but soon the ditto arrow is turned into firewood for the boiling cauldron of problems between East and West. Accusations are flying, so as wedding rings in this humorous story of love, cultural differences and a Janne!?
SYNOPSIS
„Janne of love” is a humorous investigation of the communicational problems, cultural differences and prejudices of contemporary Europeans. Bulgarian, Finnish and English language “get along, hide dirty thoughts and clash” just like the characters, pointing out the invisible borders in a globalized world.
The wild journey starts in Bulgaria, where Millitsa and Anni meet two Finnish boys – Timo and Ilkka. Beer is flowing, the temperatures are getting high, so as the passions. After getting intoxicated and recklessly breaking the law, the feelings of the main characters evolve and culminate in a shameless love confession on the dance floor.
Finland, Timo and Millitsa are already married. When alone they are the perfect match, but in public the joyful and noisy Millitsa gives Timo a hard time. Soon the stereotypical views cause their love language to fall apart. They start speaking their native tongues and their mind. Clichés and the bias that Eastern and Western Europeans have against each other burst out in a hilarious argument.
Will there be a solution in this never-ending conflict? And who, for God’s sake, is Janne!?
ABOUT THE PRODUCTION
For the first time officially Bulgarian and Finnish artists join forces for a short film in this witty and playful story about love, cultural clashes and overcoming prejudices in the never-ending East/West conflict in Europe.
Shot in three towns cross country, on eight locations, with a baby, big club crowd and foreign actors, “Janne of Love” is a huge achievement for independent filmmakers.
