FNE at Cyprus Films Days 2013: Winners Cyprus Film Days

    NICOSIA: Night of Silence by Reis Çelik (Turkey) won the Best Film Award and a prize of 6,000 EUR at the 11th annual international film festival Cyprus Film Days which wrapped on 28 April 2013 after 10 days of screenings. 

    The international jury composed of Israeli film producer Katriel Schory, German film producer Marion Döring and Romanian director and last year’s winner of the Special Jury Award, Cătălin Mitulescu, also gave the Special Jury Award and a prize of 3,000 EUR to Block 12, by Kyriakos Tofarides (Greece), and the Glocal Images Award and a prize of 1,000 EUR to La pirogue, by Moussa Tourré (Senegal). 

    The passion of Michelangelo by Esteban Larraín (Chile) received an Honorary distinction award, and The Angels' Share by Ken Loach, received the Audience Award. The Student Jury Award went ex-aequo to Queen, by Mohammad Ali Bashe Ahangar (Iran), and Boy Eating the Bird's Food by Ektoras Lygizos (Greece). 

    Cyprus Film Days is co-organised by the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture and Rialto Theatre, and is the official film festival of Cyprus. The festival has two main programmes: the international competition programme Glocal Images and the non-competitional Viewfinder: A Close-up of Contemporary International Cinema.
