The pair of films are written and helmed by a director with a handful of TV credits, Jan Pachl, on a budget of 1.35m EUR. The film will benefit from the Czech film incentives programme.

The story is based on a Czech novel about a Mafioso who gets rich through tax fraud, pocketing money from oil transactions and who later tries to gain control of the sate-owned petroleum company. The first film is set in the Czech Republic and the second follows the gangster after he escapes from the country. The films are described as a study of the rise and fall of a gangster in the world of organised crime.

Shooting was completed at the end of April. The first film will be released on 10 September 2015 and the second on 26 November, distributed by Bioscop.
