FESTIVALS: Malek Honoured at Uherske Hradiste

    UHERSKE HRADISTE, CZECH REPUBLIC: The Association of Czech Film Clubs handed out its annual awards at the 41st Uherske Hradiste Summer Film School.

    Michal Malek of Czech TV received the ACFK Award for his long-time collaboration with Czech film clubs and with the Summer Film School.

    Mohsen Makhmalbaf received the ACFK Annual Prize for his contribution to Iranian cinematography. Other recipients of ACFK awards were Czech actor Bolek Polivka and Finnish director Mika Kaurismaki.

    The last of the five ACFK awards, presented on 2 August 2015, the closing night, went to Czech documentary filmmaker Helena Trestikova for her work on long-form documentaries.

    The Summer Film School had 5,500 visitors, a decline from the previous year when it celebrated its 40th anniversary.
