Tobruk finds a buyer at Berlinale

    Director Václav Marhoul big-budget war drama Tobruk secured an an international sales agreement at the Berlinale market.

    "After its industry screening at Berlinale´s European Film Market on Friday, Febuary 6, Tobruk sold its international distribution and sales licence to the Italian company Intramovies," Marhoul announced on Monday.

    Intramovies will cover future international sales of Tobruk and as well as festival strategy.

    Tobruk is one of several Czech movies seeking international sales at the Berlinale: Night Owls by Michaela Pavlátová and Helena Třeštíkova´s René screen at the European Film Market: Who is Afraid of the Wolf by director Maria Procházková competes in Berlinale Generation Kplus competition dedicates to movies for children and youth.

    According to Wolf producer Vratislav Šlajer, the Berlinale boosted international interest in the movie. "Right after our announcement as a participants of Berlinale competition, several foreign sales agents called me," Šlajer said.

    Who is Afraid of the Wolf premieres in the official festival programme on Febuary 12 and has three competition screenings.
