Czech Foreign Minister Leads Delegation to Hollywood

By FNE Staff

PRAGUE: Karel Schwarzenberg, the Czech Foreign Minister, is leading a delegation to Hollywood to promote the Czech film industry. He departs for the US on 27 May 2011 and will be in Los Angeles on 1 June.

Accompanying him will be Helena Uldrychová from the Association of Czech Producers APA and Ludmila Claussová from the Czech Film Commission.

The Czech Republic has been struggling to regain its position as the leading center of film production in CEE, finally introducing tax incentives last year, after years of watching films opt to shoot in neighboring countries that offered tax breaks. The visit by the Foreign Minister represents a major change in attitude by the Czech government.
