GRANTS: Estonia Announces First Batch of Animation Grants for 2018


    TALLINN: The Estonian Film Institute (EFI) allotted 214,000 EUR in its first animation session of 2018. Three animated film projects received production funding and two development funding.

    Old Man's Film / Vanamehe Film by Mikk Mägi, Oskar Lehemaa and Peeter Ritso, which follows a short animation made by the same team four years ago, received the largest production grant of 100,000 EUR, followed by Cosmonaut / Kosmonaut by Kaspar Jancis and Toomas on the Other Side of Crazy Wolf Valley / Toomas teispool metsikute huntide orgu by Chintis Lundgren.

    EFI also gave grants to two animation projects in development, both for legendary animators at Estonia's largest puppet film studio Nukufilm, Riho Unt and Mati Kütt.
