A record 4 Estonian films vie for Oscar shortlist

    Estonia nominated a record-breaking three films for this year's Acadey Awards, plus a fourth one competing as this year's student film Oscar winner.

    In the best foreign language feature category, the contender is The Temptation of St.Tony by Veiko Õunpuu (produced by Katrin Kissa of Homeless Bob Productions), which screened in this year's Sundance competition.

    In the short animation category, Estonia boasts two entries, Divers in the Rain by Priit and Olga Pärn (produced by Joonisfilm), and Inherent Obligations by Rao Heidmets (produced by NukufilmI). Both films can enter the competition as winners at major international animation festivals recognised by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2010, the former with a Grand Prix from Animafest Zagreb (Croatia) and the latter with a Grand Prix from Ottawa International Animation Festival.

    The fourth entry, The Confession, by Tanel Toom is competing in the best short film category as the winner of this year's student film Oscar. The film was shot as Toom's graduation piece at te National Film and Television School, UK.
