Finns Fund Czech Films

    Two Czech-themed films have received funding from the Finnish Film Foundation (www.ses.fi).

    August Fools (Mieletön elokuu) directed by Taru Mäkelä, received a grant of 700,000 euros. The Cold War era comedy about a Finnish milliner and part-time clairvoyant whose path crosses that of a Czech jazz musician is a Finnish/Czech/Norwegian production.

    Clownwise (Klauni), a Finnish minority coproduction directed by Viktor Taus, received a grant of 160,000 euros. The Czech/Finnish/Slovak coproduction is the story of a famous trio of clowns who reunite after a split of 40 years.
