PRODUCTION: Die Hard 5 Shooting in Hungary

By Iulia Blaga

BUDAPEST: The fifth installment of Die Hard directed by John Moore is currently shooting in Budapest through August 2012.

A Good Day to Die is written by Skip Woods and Roderick Thorp. Jonathan Sela is the DOP. The Twentieth Century Fox film is produced by the Beverly Hills based Media Magik Entertainment, Los Angeles based Dune Entertainment and the Hungary's Origo Film Group (www.origofilmgroup.com).

This project was initially set to shoot in Prague, but eventually ended up as one of the most expensive productions made in Hungary, a big plus for an industry slowly recovering after a harsh recession. Budapest stands in for Moscow with a plot that has Willis/John McClane sent to Russia's capital city in a mission that involves his son (played by Jai Courtney) in a new rescue of the world. The film stars Bruce Willis, Jai Courtney, Sebastian Koch, Cole Hauser, Yuliya Snigir, Amaury Nolasco and Megalyn Echikunwoke. The premiere is set for February 2013.
