Antenna Hungaria launches Mobile TV services

    Antenna Hungaria Rt. (www.ahrt.hu) which recently won two digital (terrestrial) licences for €1.8 million (HUF420 million) will set up several digital broadcasting services

    to meet the requirements of the state tender administered by the National Communications Authority (NHH, www.nhh.hu). Upon signing the contract, one of these services will mark the introduction of the formerly state-owned company to the fledging new market of mobile TV for portable devices.

    AH's Mobile TV services will reach about 16 % of Hungary's population by year end. The company intends to ugrade its reach to half of the population in all major urban areas by 2012. Later on various interactive services will be supplied. Recently AH launched an HD-TV service in Budapest. The company is owned by TDF (www.tdf.fr), a market leader in digital video broadcasting (among them mobile TV) in France where it reaches 70 % of the population. The company is also present in Spain, Monaco, Poland, Estonia and Finland.
