BUDAPEST: The National Film Institute – Hungary has distributed 4.47 m EUR / 1.8 billion HUF for the production of two feature films and one long documentary.

The biggest grant of 2.35 m EUR / 950 m HUF went to the crime comedy Ma este gyilkolunk, the first directing job of Sándor Csányi, the star of numerous popular Hungarian comedies. There is no official English version of the title that means literally We Kill Tonight.

The second feature film receiving production support is Véletlenül írtam egy könyvet, which is based on an award-winning Dutch novel written by Annet Huizing. The teen film will show the miracle of writing with unique visuals through the personal story of a 12-year-old girl. Nóra Lakos’ sophomore feature received 1.99 m EUR / 800 m HUF. The title means I Accidently Wrote a Book.

The National Film Institute – Hungary also allotted 121,959 EUR / 49.1m HUF for the production of the documentary Heroines / Hősnők directed by Tamás Novák, which presents the life and work of Margit Slachta and Anna Kéthly, the first two female members of the Hungarian Parliament.
