Besa in postproduction

    The Serbian-Hungarian-French-Croatian-Slovenian co-production Besa by Srdjan Karanovic is in post-production, Hungarian producer Denes Szekeres told FNE.

    The Serbian Film House Bas Celik (www.bascelik.net) and Serbian Vision Team (www.visionteam-belgrade.com) are co-producing the film with the Slovenia's Vertigo Films, A.S.A.P. Films (France), Croatia's Arkadena Zagreb (www.arkadena.si) and Hungary's Tivoli Film Productions (www.tivolifilms.com).

    The film (which was also known as Hard Promises) received €200,000 from Eurimages.

    Serbian Cannes-awarded director Karanovic also wrote the script for the film which features Miki Manojlovic in the main role.

    The shooting was completed in fall of 2008 after 32 Serbian and 2 Hungarian shooting days and is currently in postproduction. Besa is about a forbidden love between a Christian woman and a Muslim man that threatens to cause a life or death oath.

    The world sales are under negotiation. The Hungarian release of the movie is planned for the 2010 Hungarian Film Week.
