Production: Meszaros wraps Hope

By Gyorgy Karpati

Cannes, Berlin, and Venice winner Marta Meszaros has finished shooting Hope, her first film since 2004's The Unburied Man, producer Erika Tarr told FNE.

The 35 day shoot began October 3, 2008 kept and ended March 29. The film is now in post-production.

The €1 million film received €725,000 from the Motion Picture Foundation of Hungary (www.mmka.hu). The film is produced by Hunnia Filmstudio (www.hunniafilm.hu), founded in 1957 and one of the biggest traditional studios in Hungary, under CEO and multi-awarded director/producer Pal Sandor.

The film is based on social democratic politician and reformer Ann Kethly who emigrated after the failed 1956 revolution, who struggled over the moral issue of returning to her home in the 1970's.

The premiere is planned for autumn 2009, with the Hunnia handling Hungarian distribution. The international rights are still available.
