MAFILM opens rebuilt sound stage with double capacity

By Dávid Dercsényi
Two years after a fire total destroyed its biggest sound stage, MAFILM has opened the rebuilt facility.

In 2007 the fire swept through the Huszárik sound stage in the studio of MAFILM (http://mafilm.hu/hu/index.html) in Fót, near Budapest. Reconstruction work started in early 2009. MAFILM, the traditional state-owned filmstudio, financed the work from its own resources, combining European grants and loan. The total cost was EUR 7.3 million (HUF 511 million).

The extension of the new sound stage is double than the old one: 2000 m2 (48 x 37 m, 15 m tall) , soundproof, and suitable for original sound recording. The newly opened Huszárik sound stage completes the complex of MAFILM: the studio can provide wide range service for the productions as different technical devices, sets, props, along with sound studios and pyrotechnic experts of world wide renown.
