Bathory celebrates Hungarian premiere

By FNE Staff
Juraj Jakubisko's historical epic movie Bathory had a gala premiere in Hungary January 14, with star Franco Nero in attendance.

The premiere was held in the historic Urania cinema, with an audience of 430, including the film's producer/actress Deana Jakubisková Horváthová along with cast and crew and a VIP audience.

The film went on to general release in Hungary on January 20. Distribution began with 14 prints and expands to 25 prints on January 21, targeting both multiplexes and art house cinemas. The film's release will further expand to additional art houses over the coming weeks of the release.

Self-distributed by the producer, the film is expected to do well in Hungary. The title character has long historical and cultural ties to Hungary's past and legends.
