Latvia Introduces Coproduction Funding

    RIGA: The Latvian Film Centre has launched its first tender for coproduction funding.

    State funding of 135,097 EUR will be allotted to foreign productions shot partially or entirely in Latvia, and employing local services and professionals. The National Film Centre of Latvia said that projects featuring locations as Latvia are eligible for funding up to 25%, and projects which feature Latvia as other countries are eligible for up to 20% in funding.

    The call for grants is open through 10 June 2014.

    National Film Centre director Dita Rietuma, noted that co-funding foreign projects is a positive step in the development of local economy, especially for the regions of Latvia.

    Latvia is the only of the Baltic state that has a state backed program for co-funding foreign projects.
