Cinema school to open in Riga

    The Riga Motion Pictures Studio is partnering with the Latvian Academy of Culture to open a film school in Riga.

    According to The Baltic Times, the project has the support of the Latvian Minister of Culture.

    The Riga Motion Pictures Studio (www.studio.lv) began a cooperation with the Academy (www.lka.edu.lv) this year, offering student internships at the Studio. The Studio complex opened in 1961, producing 15 feature films annually and employing 1,000 people during the Soviet era.

    The Academy opened in 1991 and currently enrolls some 600 students.
