PRODUCTION: Lithuanian Cult Film Director Shooting Flight Redirected

    VILNIUS: Emilis Velyvis, director of the Lithuanian cult film hit Zero 2, is in production with Flight Redirected, a Lithuanian/UK coproduction.

    Shooting began on 23 July 2012.

    The film is produced by Lithuanian companies Kino Kultas and Meed Films (www.meedfilms.com) and UK's Wellington Films Ltd., with producers Asta Liukaityte, Donatas Zvalionis, Alastair Clark and Rachel Robey.

    "The budget of Flight Redirected is 3.1 m litas or almost 900,000 EUR. The Lithuanian Ministry of Culture (www.lrkm.lt) has allocated 2 m litas or (580 000 EUR)," Justinas Vancevicius, CEO at Meed Films distribution and production company based in Vilnius, told FNE.

    The film stars British footballer-turned-Hollywood action actor Vinnie Jones (Lock. Stock and Two Smoking Barrels; X-Men: The Last Stand), Russian film star Artur Smolyaninova, and British actors Scot Williams, Gil Darnell, Oliver Jackson, and Antony Strachan.

    Flight Redirected, an action-comedy thriller described as "The Hangover meets Snatch" follows four friends and first-time robbers who find themselves stranded in Eastern Europe.

    The film is produced by Lithuanian companies Kino Kultas and Meed Films and UK's Wellington Films Ltd., with producers Asta Liukaityte, Donatas Zvalionis, Alastair Clark and Rachel Robey.

    An international release is planned for 2014.
