The romantic comedy, directed by Donatas Ulvydas, Ričardas Marcinkus, Edita Kabaraitė, and Simas Aškelavičius, will open simultaneously in Lithuania, Denmark, Iceland, Norway and Great Britain.
The film is funded by private investors and produced by the Lithuanian studios LITLBAZ and BULVE production. The lead producer is Žilvinas Naujokas. It will be distributed by Acmefilm
The film is based on a Canadian script about the relationships between men and women.
Ulvydas and Naujokas are best known for a historical adventure drama about a Lithuanian folk hero, Tadas Blinda.
“With the movie Tadas Blinda. Pradžia we did what never was done before; we tried to reach the broadest audience as possible between Lithuanians living in in the country and abroad. This time we have set an even higher goal: the premiere will be held at the same time in Lithuania and in those countries, where the largest diaspora of our emigrants live,” Naujokas said.
The cast includes Vytautas Šapranauskas, Gabija Ryškuvienė, Giedrius Savickas, Mantas Jankavičius, and Agnė Grudytė.
Lonely Valentin, which is targeted for mature audiences, tells the story in an unusually open way for the Lithuanian cinema.
“Complex epic, historical or sci-fi movies are very expensive. It‘s possible to assemble the best film crew, but finding financial solutions is complicated. You can get support from the state only once in five years. A funny, intimate, festive movie is exactly what we need and what we can now," Ulvydas said.
