The Gambler is produced by Lithuania’s Studio Uljana Kim and Latvia's Locomotive Productions.

The main character in the story Vincentas is the best employee at the emergency services station, but he has only one passion: gambling. Whenever he is in some difficult situation, the medic is forced to grab onto something radical to return the money he is constantly losing. Vincentas comes up with the idea of creating an illegal game related to his profession.

The leading roles are played by Vytautas Kaniušonis, Oona Mekas, Romuald Lavrynoič, and Jonas Vaitkus.

The film is funded by the Lithuanian Ministery of Culture with 2m Litas, the Council of Europe's production support fund Eurimages with 100,000EUR, MEDIA with 25,000 EUR, and the National Film Center of Latvia with 50,000 Latas. The budget is 860,000 EUR.

World sales are under negotiation. The Lithuanian release of the movie is planned for autumn 2013.
