Malta hosts TV productions

By FNE Staff
Two international TV productions are currently in Malta for filming: the popular, long-running TV series Rex and the US mini-series Moby Dick.

Rex (formerly known as Komissar Rex, an Austria TV series that re-located to Rome in season 11) is filming on locations around the island nation through November 8, in an episode especially written for a Malta setting.

Moby Dick, which stars Ethan Hawke as Starbuck, along with an all-star cast including Donald Sutherland, William Hurt and Gillian Anderson, is directed by Mike Barker and produced by Herbert G. Kloiber for Tele Munchen and Rikolt von Gagern. The mini-series, with a budget of 17 million euros, is being promoted as the most expensive in TeleMunchen's history. Filming in Malta will make use of the film tank at the Mediterranean Film Studios.
