Malta signs three-year MTV contract

The government of Malta announced that it has signed a three-year contract to host the Isle of MTV concert, through 2010.

The contract follows the success of last July's concert, which drew 50,000 people. Plans are to build a four-day event around the free concert, which is scheduled for June 25. The concert is produced by MTV Italian arm Playmaker and is transmitted to 20 European MTV channels, including the Baltics, Czech and Slovak Republics, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Turkey, Russia, and the Ukraine.

This year's concert has already signed the U.S. band OneRepublic, the first of the first of three bands expected to appear.
