PRODUCTION: In the Shadow Filming in Prague

    WARSAW: Czech director David Ondricek is in production with In The Shadow, a Czech-Polish-Slovak coproduction which began shooting on 5 March 2011 in Prague. Polish cinematographer Adam Sikora is the DoP.

    The script was written by Ondricek in co-operation with Marek Epstein and Misha Votruba. In the Shadow is a thriller set in Prague in the 1950's, where a mysterious robbery case brings togeter a Czech policeman and a German investigator. The latter tries to tie the crime with a Jewish conspiracy, while both of the detectives are manipulated by the communist regime interested in the case.

    The shoot will last through May. The film is a co-production between Ondricek's Czech company Lucky Man Films (www.luckymanfilms.com), Poland's Centrala ((www.centralafilm.pl) and Slovakia's Trigon Production (www.trigon-production.sk). The budget of the production is over 11 million PLN. (EUR 2.7 million). The film recieved 1 million PLN of funding from the Polish Film Institiute and is also supported by Eurimages, the State Fund for the Support and Development of Czech Cinematography and the City Of Prague.

    The director is planning to premiere the film during the 2012 IFF in Berlin and the national premiere in the Czech Republic is planned for 2 February 2012.
