FESTIVALS: Poland Sends Six Films to Korean Fest

    WARSAW: Six films will represent Poland at the 16th Busan IFF taking place in Korea 6-14 October 2011. The selection includesWymyk (Courage) by Greg Zglinski, marking its international premiere in the Flash Forward competition.

    The World Cinema section will feature three Polish Films. Busan will mark one of the first international screenings of Bitwa warszawska 1920 (Battle of Warsaw 1920) by Jerzy Hoffman. After the world premiere in Toronto (September 8-18), Wojciech Smarzowski's Róża (Rose) will also screen in Busan. Both films were co-financed by the Polish Film Institute. The Busan lineup also includes Trzy siostry T by Maciej Kowalewski.

    The Busan IFF will also screen several international co-productions that were co-financed by the Polish Film Institute. The Norwegian film King of Devil's Island by Marius Holst was co-produced by Poland's Opus Film (screening in World Cinema). Another Polish co-production featured in Busan is the feature-length animated film Crulic - Droga na drugą stronę (Crulic), directed by Anca Damian (Wide Angle section). The film's Polish co-producer is the Ferdynand Magellan Foundation.
