PRODUCTION: Animated Series Galaxy Taxi in Development

By

WARSAW: Fumi Studio (www.fumistudio.com) is in the early stages of development with a 13-episode animated series for adults and children, Galaxy Taxi.

The project received a development grant of 100,000 PLN (24,400 EUR) from the Polish Film Institute (www.pisf.pl). The per-episode budget is estimated at 250,000 PLN (60,890 EUR), with the entire 13 episodes coming in at 3,250,000 PLN (791,600 EUR).

Galaxy Taxi is set in an unusual part of outer space, apparently totally normal countryside, where the series’ three heroes cross the galaxy in a comical taxi cab. The images are composed with graphic tablets and 3D animation support, but imitate the classical style of cartoon films.

“The series was rated as the best one in its genre during the Polish Film Institute session in 2012,” Maria Deskur, Fumi Studio’s managing director, told FNE. “We want to focus on keeping this standard during the production process. Moreover, with Galaxy Taxi we would like to move beyond the Polish borders; therefore we are preparing materials for international pitching sessions we will attend.” The company is seeking coproducers and sales agents.
