Cinema City to Launch IKEA Lublin Multiplex

By

A nine-screen digital Cinema City Multiplex with cutting-edge 3D projection is being built within the IKEA center in Lublin, company officials have announced. The project, in a shopping mall featuring 150 venues, is set to open late next year.

“We look forward to open our second cinema in this city in the location, where many citizens will be coming to spend time combining shopping and entertainment,” said Moshe (Mooky) Greidinger, CEO of Cinema City International in a press statement. “Poland is our biggest country of operation but it still represents good potential to expand our business."

The company's strategic expansion into the "best locations in key cities to open the top-end cinema venues" will bring its total screens in Lublin to 17, complementing a multiplex in the Lublin Plaza shopping mall, opened in 2007. Cinema City operates 339 screens in 31 multiplexes in Poland including 5 IMAX theaters and the first 4DX auditorium in Arkadia, Warsaw.

It has signed some seven lease agreements for future Polish multiplexes with over 80 screens and it continues "analyzing subsequent potential locations." Cinema City is the third largest exhibitor in Europe and the leader in Central and Eastern Europe and Israel with 100 multiplexes featuring 974 screens in 7 countries. Last year's sales, 36.3 million tickets, were 2.5% up over 2011.
