The vote of the Europa Distribution Board took place during a special meeting hosted by the Rome Film Festival. Thirteen Board members re-elected Jakub Duszyński as one of the organisation's Co-Presidents alongside Gabor Boszormenyi from Mozinet in Hungary and Laurent Dutoit of the Swiss company Agora, who replaced Annemie Degryse from the Swiss-French company Lumiere.
"The most important issue for distributors in the years to come is surely the constant development of digital media, the new possibilities that come with exposing films on the Internet and through various video platforms. We should also work on the development of what we call day and date strategies where we introduce a film to the theaters but at the same time consequently let it enter other forms of exposition such as DVD and VOD." Jakub Duszyński told FNE when asked about most important issues facing European independent distributors today.
Europa Distribution, created in 2006, brings together 143 independent distributors from 28 countries and represents film professionals engaged in the distribution market. The new honorary President of the organization is a young French director Ursula Meier, who replaced Cristian Mungiu.
