The win comes just days after Ida won five prizes at the European Film Awards. The black and white film was produced by Opus Film (PL) and Phoenix Film (DK) in association with Portobello Pictures (GB) and supported by the Polish Film Institute.

The prize, decided on the basis of a vote by the Members of the European Parliament, is intended to celebrate the diversity and the social relevance of cinema in Europe. The LUX Prize was handed out by the President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz.
