FESTIVALS: Poland Awards US Projects with Postproduction Prizes

    WROCLAW: In a bid to bring more American producers to Poland, the 7th American Film Festival (which ran through 30 October 2016) handed out a bevy of postproduction awards to five US films presented at the US in Progress Wroclaw industry programme.

    The awards ranged from a soundtrack composition to color correction to TV acquisition offers. Seven films were eligible for the postproduction in-kind awards.

    The industry programme also included one-on-one meetings and panel discussions on the topic of coproduction with Europe.

    The films receiving Polish services and acquisitions included the following:

    Desolation by David Moscow received a soundtrack composed by Maciek Zieliński of Soundflower, Warsaw
    The Inheritance by Laura Davis and Jessica Kaye received color correct the movie at ColorOffOn in Warsaw
    Savage Youth by Michael Curtis Johnson received a final sound mix at Toya Studios in Lodz and an acquisition offer from Ale Kino+ channel
    La Barracuda by Julia Halperin and Jason Cortlund received color correction and deliverables at Orka Film in Warsaw and an acquisition offer from Ale Kino+ channel
    An American in Texas by Anthony Pedone received color correction and deliverables in Multilab (part of Krakow Technology Park) and creative sound design from Soundflower in Warsaw;
    Untitled Hasidic Film by Joshua Z. Weinstein received image post-production (including effects and deliverables) at Warsaw’s Fixafilm.
